DESCRIPTION:
Recycling Olympic Games (ROG) is an alternative sports event that is focused on creative waste reusing where teams compete for the title of “Finnish UpCycling Champion” and the winning team will be invited to participate in the international Recycling Olympic Games. The project enables situation-specific, creative production and performative actions to be happening at the site of ROG and around Tampere for the duration of the games.
During the ROG week teams will be expected to camp, barbecue, work and have fun in the sun and water. In the opening ceremony, each team gets a randomly chosen challenge, which they try to fulfill to the best of their capabilities.

ROG day 1: The rivalry of the century is reignited! Reigning ROG champions,Team TURKU, vs team TAMPERE (Hirvitalo) will be competing in these Finnish National Recycling Olympic Games! ROGers are getting a steady supply of waste food from the local shop and eating too much. According to local traditions, an welcoming sauna was held on the first night of competition following a tour of local ruins/punk-hangouts/graffiti-walls.

ROG day 2: Team TURKU and team TAMPERE (Hirvitalo) plan and gather materials for the challenges they've been assigned. During it all teams work building their rafts through the freezing rain and blistering-hot sunshine.

ROG day 3: Structures begin to come together for both sides in the third day of competition.
ROG day 4: Teams continue to work on their floating structures and the 2016 Recycling Olympic Games (FI) trophy is finished.
ROG day 5: The competition winds down as teams begin to bring their challenges/devices/vehicles to the lake.

ROG day 6: After a great week of ROGing at Hirvitalo Pispalan Nykytaiteen Keskus in Tampere! Team Turku has again taken home the prize (but only just barely with a 4 point difference out of +300) and so many great floating objects were built during this first Finnish national edition of the Recycling Olympics Games.
